The Power of a Stamp

For as long as I can remember,  I have always been captivated by the power of a stamp.  I do not remember everything from my childhood but,  I do vividly remember learning in class how to address a letter.  It fascinated me at a young age and I began over time to start my journey with writing letters and cards.  I know there may come a time in our existence that there will no long be door to door delivery of mail.  But until then,  I will continue to write letters and cards as I feel they carry a lot of weight in terms of expressing thoughts and emotions to another person.

The world we live in today is chaotic to say the least.  And technology has taken over so much of our ability to communicate with others in meaningful ways.  Younger generations have grown up in a world where the only way they know how to communicate is digitally through a phone, computer, gaming console or other technology.  Learning how to problem solve and communicate in real time in person is essential for so many employment opportunities.  Yes,  I understand that technology plays an important role in many aspects of day to day life.  But I feel like we have to take a step back sometimes and practice interactions with those in our lives like our parents and grandparents did.

So I challenge you to buy a stamp and post a letter or card to someone that means something to you.  You may find that the exercise of writing it is cathartic on its own and I know the person that receives it will truly appreciate whatever sentiment you sent in the mail.

No amount of regret changes the past

No amount of anxiety changes the future

Any amount of gratitude changes the present
